Playing Pocket Aces

How do you play pocket aces?

I’ve been intending to write some articles about playing specific hands for a while, starting with pocket aces. Last night, while playing at Tony’s, I ran across Aces when I played someone who had them. The way he played them was a way that normally I wouldn’t endorse, and in fact would caution against it, but he made the right play.

My opponent limped in, under the gun, with pocket aces. I had AKs and felt I had to raise in middle position. Of course he re-raised me which took me by surprise. While I eventually got away from the hand (after seeing the flop and the turn), he took a hefty portion of my stack, and to rub it in a bit more, showed me the winning hand. (Who can blame him, I’d do it too).

Back to Regular Schedule

Hey folks,

We’re back to regular schedule at Tony’s: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday all at 8:00pm. This week we have started week 6. This schedule will continue until the end of the 12 week season.

Point have been updated, and as you can see, I’ll be updating the top 3 points leaders for each night on the main page. If you aren’t one of the top 3, but still wish to check your standings, be sure to click on the Points LeaderBoard link on the top of the page.

Holiday Schedule

Hi poker gang.

In consideration of Christmas, we are switching our normal Thursday tournament this week to Sunday, Dec. 27th at 5pm!!! Points accumulated during this tournament will count toward your normal Thursday results. We will still have regularly scheduled tournaments for tomorrow and Wednesday this week at 8pm and I hope to see you at all 3 tournaments! Let the cards fly!!

Greetings future poker pros!

As it has been an interesting couple of months with Posh Poker, twice changing venues to keep the play alive during the Tony’s transition, we all made it through and I believe we came out better than ever in the end! I truly appreciate your support at both Tony’s and Coldbrew’s and hope to continue to provide fun, competitive arenas to play our favorite game!

Here is the list of players who have qualified for the final tournament on Sunday, December 6th at Tony’s American Grill. Sign in at 3:30pm, and cards will fly at 4pm sharp!!

Though I would love to include every single person who plays week to week, I know everyone’s natural competitive spirit will work double-time to make sure you are included for the next big tournament in the Spring!

The tournament chip stacks sizes will be based on ranking positions, as well as frequency of qualifying on different nights, and will be posted on the website after this weekend and available in hard copy form when you arrive at the next Posh Poker game.

Last but not least, there will be over $650 in total prize value for 1st-6th place!! Congratulations to all who qualified, and good luck on the 6th!!

Next Week Schedule – Special Holiday Tourney!!

Hey guys!

Here is our tournament schedule for next week:

  • Monday 11/23 – Special Holiday Tourney at Tony’s!! 8pm. Points for this night will be applied to Thursday Week 1. You will receive official meetup notification for which you can RSVP!! I will give EXTRA chips for attendance on this night!
  • Tuesday 11/24 – Business as usual, regular Tony’s tournament – Week 1. Hope to see you there.
  • Wednesday – No tournament this week due to holiday.
  • Thursday – No tournament this week due to holiday.
